仮定法

If節が現在・未来の出来事
①主節が現在
If I got enough money tomorrow, I would go to UK.
If I were young now, I would go to UK.

Iｆ節が過去の出来事
③主節が過去
If I had received my resident permit, I would have done the internship in UK then.
④主節が現在
If I had received my resident permit, I would work in UK now.

I wish that/ if only S+V　

有り得ない/もう起こり得ないことに対する願望　（～やったらなぁ/～してたらなぁ）

I wish I didn't have an exam tomorrow.
If only I didn't have an exam tomorrow.

未来のことでも過去形（仮定法の仲間だから）

I wish I had studied harder yesterday.
If only I had studied harder yesterday.

過去のことは過去完了

Should/ were to 万が一の話

If you should fail the exam, take a resit.
If the company were to go bankrupt, what would you do?

If the company went         bankrupt, what would you do?

慣用表現

１．as if （まるで～するかのように）

He is talking to Mary as if he loves her.

as if が起こりそうもないような出来事の場合は、仮定法を使う。

He talks as if he were the prime minister.

２．もし～がなければ

But for his help I couldn't have done it.　（過去・現在）

If it were not for his help I couldn't do it.　（現在）

If it had not been for his help yesterday I couldn't have done it. （過去）

３．It is time S + 過去形（SがVする時間だ）

It is time you went to bed. 寝る時間ですよ。
